Study Led by CSPV Finds Youth Violence Prevention Program Cuts Arrests by up to 75%

A new study in the American Journal of Criminal Justice shows that the Youth Violence Prevention Center–Denver, led by CU Boulder’s Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV), reduced youth arrests for serious crimes by as much as 75%. Since 2011, CSPV has partnered with Denver communities to implement science-based, community-led strategies that address the root causes of violence. The results highlight CSPV’s success in turning research into real-world impact; however, proposed CDC budget cuts now threaten the program’s future. See CU Boulder Today article here.
