What We Do
The Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence uses the lessons learned from research to design, implement, and evaluate strategies to prevent violence and create environments where people can thrive. We partner with schools, communities, and organizations and have led over 100 projects across the nation and internationally.
Areas of Impact

Building Stronger Communities
In collaboration with community partners, we create, implement, and evaluate innovative violence prevention programs.
Youth leaders play a key role in supporting and advancing this work by bridging science, arts, and media to inspire their peers to positively impact their communities and their future.

Enhancing School Safety
We work with schools to strengthen safety systems and foster positive school climates through initiatives like Safe Communities Safe Schools, which has seen widespread success in Colorado and is set to expand nationally in the coming years.

Fostering Evaluation Partnerships
Our evaluation initiatives are grounded in participatory action research, ensuring a community-driven approach that maximizes impact. We collaborate with various organizations to assess and improve strategies aimed at enhancing safety, mental health support, suicide prevention, and crisis response.
