Enhancing School Safety

CSPV’s school-based initiatives focus on building key safety systems and fostering positive school climates using the Safe Communities Safe Schools (SCSS) Model. With 20+ years of research on school safety and violence prevention, the SCSS Model balances the needs of educators, students, and families with effective strategies to create safe, supportive school environments. SCSS has been implemented in over 200 schools in Colorado and in Indonesia, with a national rollout planned in the U.S. this year.

The Safe Communities Safe Schools Model

The SCSS Model addresses social, emotional, and physical well-being through prevention and intervention. It includes:

1 – Flexible Approaches

Customized processes enhance school culture, climate, and overall safety.

2 – Data-driven Decision Making

Individual- and system-level data identify strengths, challenges, and gaps.

3 – Individualized School Action Plans

Tailored plans foster effective and lasting school safety efforts.
