Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence

Public Awareness Campaign

The Public Awareness Campaign is a comprehensive social and digital media campaign that aims to educate CU Boulder students, faculty, staff, and community members about the warning signs for violence, importance of reporting safety concerns, and use of Colorado’s Safe2Tell.

To develop the public awareness campaign, we tested messages about the warning signs for violence and avenues for upstander reporting with focus groups. We used participants’ feedback to revise the messages, and local graphic designer Dayton Williams and global marketing agency ICF Next formatted the messages for dissemination on social media.

In the coming year, we’ll pair those messages with music created by songwriter Mike Long of Tiny Anthems. In fall 2023, the campaign will be launched through our community networks and other campus groups to promote education and awareness about violence prevention, using our extensive portfolio of multimedia work.
